DayZ Reports All-Time-High in Player Numbers

The Open-World Survival Game That Started the Genre Peaks at 500,000 Daily Players Across Platforms

Despite celebrating its 10th anniversary recently, Bohemia Interactive’s genre defining open-world survival game DayZ is more popular than ever. The game is breaking player records on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, following the launch of its second official expansion - DayZ Frostline.

DayZ Frostline sold over 300,000 copies during the first week of its launch. The expansion has sparked the interest of existing DayZ players, and introduced a unique and exciting gameplay experience to new ones.

October 20th marked DayZ Frostline’s busiest day so far, with DayZ peaking at 501,522 total daily active users (235,618 on Steam, 113,897 on PlayStation, and 152,037 on Xbox). October 20th also saw all-time high numbers in terms of concurrent players, with 79,000 on Steam, 33,000 on PlayStation, and 36,000 on Xbox.

“We're thrilled to celebrate the first week of DayZ Frostline's success, and we owe it all to our incredible community. A heartfelt thank you to every member, from veteran survivors to fresh spawns. Your unwavering dedication and insightful feedback have been the driving force behind DayZ's evolution, and the recent surge in player numbers is a testament to its enduring vitality. DayZ Remains a competing driving force of the survival genre, pushing boundaries in every aspect that is hard to replicate,” says DayZ Brand Manager Scott Bowen.

Our story began with our first game, Arma: Cold War Assault, which was released in 2001. Developed by just a handful of people, this PC-exclusive title became a massive success. It sold well over a million copies, received numerous industry awards, and was praised by critics and players alike. Since then, we've grown from a ragtag bunch of garage devs to an international family of over 350 professionals – working on Arma 3, DayZ, Ylands, Vigor, the Enfusion engine, and various other projects. Our ambition: to make games that act as platforms for people to explore, create, and connect.
