Highly Anticipated Arma Reforger Mod Support Sparks Unprecedented Surge Among Mil-Sim-Hungry PS5 Players

Bohemia Interactive is thrilled to announce that Update 1.4 for Arma Reforger has brought an incredible surge of activity to the battlefield, following the introduction of full mod support on PlayStation 5. This landmark feature is reshaping how console players engage with the tactical military sandbox, opening up a new universe of possibilities via thousands of community-created mods.

Since the update’s release on May 22, over 125,827 unique PS5 users have already embraced the new possibilities, spending over 1,000,000 hours in modded sessions. PlayStation players are diving deep into modded content, averaging 58 mods per session, which stands as a true testament to the community’s hunger for deep customization. And just on the first day after the launch of update, a total of 70,000 PS5 users downloaded modded content. Furthermore, Arma Reforger has now surpassed 2.1 million copies sold across all platforms, and the momentum continues to build with a 14,593-player surge on PlayStation 5 alone in just six days following the 1.4 update.

“I am incredibly proud of our team for achieving the same functionality on all platforms on which Arma Reforger is available,” said Krzysztof Bielawski, Project Lead of Arma Reforger. “Opening the PlayStation platform for modded content was incredibly important for keeping a healthy, not divided community, democratizing access to our sandbox, and setting the standard for future Arma releases.”

Arma Reforger is now one of the few games that offers full and unrestricted modding support on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, while also enabling cross-play between all the mentioned platforms.
The in-game Workshop now enables console players to browse, download, and play user-generated content, which spans from custom game modes and missions to community-crafted vehicles, weapons, and terrains.

“At Bohemia Interactive, we've been nurturing the modding community of our games for years,” Bielawski added. “We are fully aware that the ability to customize the gameplay experience through mods is one of the most highly valued features of every game in the Arma series. Bringing modded content to the PS5 platform is our most important achievement this year.”

Bohemia Interactive is grateful for the overwhelming reception to Update 1.4, which reflects not only the passion of the incredible community but also the dedication of the entire team. That same passion was also showcased in what has become one of the most well-received trailers ever produced by the company.

Looking ahead, the team remains committed to expanding the Arma experience across platforms and continuing to support the modding community through workshops, documentation, direct outreach, and the Make Arma Not War 2025 modding competition, through which it is offering over $100,000 in prizes to outstanding mods.

About Bohemia Interactive

Our story began with our first game, Arma: Cold War Assault, which was released in 2001. Developed by just a handful of people, this PC-exclusive title became a massive success. It sold well over a million copies, received numerous industry awards, and was praised by critics and players alike. Since then, we've grown from a ragtag bunch of garage devs to an international family of over 350 professionals – working on Arma 3, DayZ, Ylands, Vigor, the Enfusion engine, and various other projects. Our ambition: to make games that act as platforms for people to explore, create, and connect.
